Season 22 will lead you on a journey that seeks to demystify the artistic process and focuses on the ever-evolving relationship between the audience and the performer, the venue and the attendees, and the choreographer and the dancer.
Beginning with a unique blend of improvisation and performance at Miller Gallery at Carnegie Mellon University, Some Assembly Required (October 7th—9th) will engage audiences in a process of co-creation, inspired by renowned French architect, José Oubrerie’s exhibition—Architecture with and without Le Corbusier. The audience will continue the journey as Attack Theatre unbolts the seats in an evening of shifting perspectives and theatrical landscapes with Unbolted (December 1st–3rd) at the George R. White Studio of the Pittsburgh Opera. This season will culminate in an unprecedented performance as Attack Theatre joins forces with internationally acclaimed choreographers Helen Simoneau (New York City and North Carolina) and Norbert de la Cruz III (New York City), for the world-premiere performance of The Next Stop (May 19th–20th) at Kelly Strayhorn Theater.
On February 11th, Attack Theatre will host its second rendition of the performance fundraiser, One Night Stand, at Ace Hotel Pittsburgh with an elegant evening of fun and frivolity. Money raised from this rousing event supports the company’s mainstage productions, as well as valuable educational partnerships that reach approximately 8,000 students and teachers each year. This season Attack Theatre will work in the classrooms and on the stages of numerous schools in the Pittsburgh Public School District, South Fayette School District, Burrell School District, Canon-MacMillan School District; in addition to ongoing relationships with Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, Winchester Thurston School, Allegheny Intermediate Unit, and the Drug Enforcement Agency Youth Dance Program.
