One in Four, One in Eight

Presented in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University School of Music

One in Four, One in Eight features music that engages aspects of the human and emotional – as well as the more procedural and scientific – aspects of infertility and pregnancy loss. Composed by Kate Pukinskis, an assistant professor of composition and theory at Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Music, the piece takes its title from this statistic: one in four known pregnancies ends in loss in the U.S., and one in eight people needs medical assistance to become pregnant.

One in Four, One in Eight features the Agarita Chamber Players, pre- and post-concert talks led by Kate Pukinskis, movement and choreography by Attack Theatre, and newly commissioned visual artwork by Pittsburgh artist Morgan Overton.

This performance features: Olivia Nellis, Company Dancer;  Michele de la Reza, Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director; Jennifer Milgram, Project Dancer; Sarah Zielinski, Project Dancer.
