Executive Director

Position Overview

Attack Theatre seeks an Executive Director to provide strategic, financial, and organizational leadership for the company in partnership with its two Artistic Directors. All three leadership positions report directly to the board. The Executive Director advances the organization’s mission, strengthens its financial sustainability, and cultivates relationships with donors, foundations, partners, and the broader community.

The Executive Director leads fundraising and development efforts, builds partnerships that expand the organization’s artistic and educational impact and provides strategic direction for marketing and communications. The Executive Director ensures that Attack Theatre’s programs, operations, and administrative systems support the company’s programmatic vision and long-term sustainability.

The Executive Director manages the Director of Operations, Development team, and fractional CFO to ensure strong alignment between artistic and educational programming, organizational resources, and community impact.

This role requires a collaborative and entrepreneurial leader who can champion Attack Theatre’s programmatic impact while strengthening the organization’s financial sustainability and community engagement.

Salary Range: $90,000 - 110,000

Key Responsibilities:

Organizational Leadership

Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the organization.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead organizational planning in partnership with the Artistic Directors and Board of Directors.

  • Ensure alignment between artistic programming, education initiatives, and organizational sustainability.

  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive organizational culture that supports artists, staff, and community partners.

  • Represent Attack Theatre publicly within the arts community, civic organizations, and philanthropic networks.

Fundraising and Development

Lead fundraising efforts to sustain and grow the organization’s programs and impact.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies across individual, foundation, corporate, and government funding sources.

  • Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, foundations, and institutional partners.

  • Oversee grant strategy and collaborate on proposal development with staff and consultants.

  • Partner with the Board of Directors to expand fundraising networks and engagement.

  • Maximize earned revenue from on-site programming, fee-for-service, education, other artistic programs and Attack Theatre’s co-location “Hub”.

Partnerships

Support the artistic and programmatic vision and ensure strong alignment between artistic and educational programming and organizational resources. Strengthen relationships with community organizations, schools, universities, presenters, neighborhood, and cultural partners.

Responsibilities include:

  • Represent Attack Theatre within Pittsburgh’s cultural ecosystem and national arts networks.

  • Cultivate relationships with community organizations, presenters, and partners that expand engagement with the company’s work.

  • Maintain strong relationships within the Lawrenceville neighborhood and with the organization’s shared-facility partners.

  • Ensure that administrative, financial, and marketing resources support the artistic work of the organization.

  • Build relationships with organizational, artistic, and community partners. 

  • Lead the vision and partnerships for Attack Theatre’s co-location non-profit “Hub”.

Marketing and Communications Leadership

Provide strategic leadership for the organization’s marketing and communications efforts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop campaign messaging, communications strategy, and audience engagement initiatives.

  • Serve as a spokesperson for the organization.

  • Ensure communications priorities align with fundraising, audience development, and program visibility.

Board Leadership and Governance

Work closely with the Board of Directors to support strong governance and strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide support to the Board including meeting agendas, priorities, reporting, and strategic goals.

  • Engage board members in fundraising, advocacy, and community engagement.

  • Support board development, recruitment, and committee engagement.

Financial Oversight

Ensure the organization operates with strong financial stewardship and sustainability.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with the fractional CFO and financial services provider to oversee budgeting and financial planning.

  • Monitor financial performance and ensure alignment with organizational priorities.

  • Support long-term financial sustainability through revenue diversification and strategic planning.

Organizational Management

Provide leadership and supervision for the organization’s administrative structure.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage and collaborate with the operations team to ensure effective organizational systems, HR practices, and operational infrastructure.

  • Work with the Artistic Directors and education staff to ensure programs are supported by appropriate administrative resources.

  • Ensure administrative functions, human resources, facilities coordination, and organizational systems are operating effectively.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in nonprofit management, arts administration, or related fields

  • Experience in fundraising, donor cultivation, and grant development

Operations Manager

Position Overview

Attack Theatre seeks an Operations Manager to oversee the administrative and operational infrastructure that supports the company’s artistic, educational, and community-based work.

The Operations Manager ensures that the organization’s internal systems, staff operations, facilities, and administrative functions run efficiently and sustainably. This role translates organizational priorities into effective processes and ensures that the artistic and program teams can focus on delivering high-quality performances, educational programs, and community partnerships.

Working closely with the Executive Director the Operations Manager oversees day-to-day administrative functions and organizational systems. The role also serves as the primary liaison to the organization’s external financial services provider, ensuring smooth internal workflows for budgeting, contracting, payroll coordination, reporting, and compliance. The Operations Manager supervises an Administrative Coordinator who supports administrative operations and event logistics.

This position is ideal for an experienced arts administrator who is highly organized, systems-oriented, and comfortable managing the operational backbone of a creative organization.

Salary Range: $45,000–55,000

Key Responsibilities

Organizational Operations

  • Oversee the day-to-day administrative operations of the organization.

  • Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures across departments.

  • Manage organizational calendars, internal deadlines, and operational workflows.

  • Manage the organization’s ticketing and registration platforms and file management systems.

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through better processes, tools, and systems.

Staff Administration

  • Assist Executive Director with HR administration including hiring coordination, onboarding, personnel files, and offboarding processes.

  • Maintain employee handbook and HR policies.

  • Coordinate internal planning processes and ensure alignment between administrative, artistic, and programmatic activities.

  • Support staff performance review processes and professional development processes.

  • Maintain documentation and operational guidelines for event and audience services procedures.

  • Supervise or delegate front-of-house logistics to an Administrative Coordinator or other support staff as appropriate.

  • Oversee volunteers or assistants for program delivery.

Financial Operations Coordination

(Finance functions are managed by an external accounting firm.)

  • Serve as the primary internal liaison to the organization’s outsourced financial services provider.

  • Coordinate budgeting timelines and departmental budget inputs, including accurate coding against the chart of accounts.

  • Ensure smooth internal processes for contract administration and compliance.

  • Maintain financial documentation and internal reporting systems required for grants, audits, and organizational reporting.

  • Maintain box office records and coordinate financial data with financial services provider.

Facilities Management

Attack Theatre operates from a shared cultural facility in Lawrenceville with several partner arts organizations. This role serves as the primary point of contact for office tenants, shared space coordination, and maintenance requests.

External Vendor Coordination

Attack Theatre works with several external consultants who support key organizational functions. The Operations Manager coordinates internal workflows and communication to ensure these partnerships function smoothly and align with organizational priorities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the primary internal liaison to the organization’s marketing agency, coordinating timelines, gathering program information, and ensuring staff deliverables align with campaign schedules.

  • Coordinate with the CRM/database agency to support database maintenance, reporting tools, audience records and system improvements.

  • Ensure marketing, CRM, and internal administrative systems remain aligned and effectively support ticketing, audience engagement, and program tracking.

  • Coordinate project timelines among consultants, staff, and leadership to ensure smooth implementation of initiatives.

  • Maintain documentation of workflows, systems, and consultant-related processes.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in arts administration, nonprofit operations, or organizational management

  • Experience in a performing arts or cultural nonprofit environment strongly preferred

  • Strong organizational and project management skills

  • Experience managing HR processes and organizational policies

  • Familiarity with nonprofit financial workflows and budget coordination

  • Experience working with external vendors, consultants, or accounting services

  • Excellent communication and cross-departmental coordination skills

  • Ability to design and maintain operational systems and processes

  • Comfort working in a collaborative, artist-driven environment

Company Dancer

Seeking Company Dancers for the 2026-2027 Season

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS‍  

Weekly salary ranges from $500 to $650 plus benefits.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR  

‍Attack Theatre seeks company members for full-time seasonal contracts beginning August 31, 2026 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for 30 – 34 weeks. 

Company members are part of a small ensemble of movers, collaborators, creators, educators, learners, and curious thinkers. Attack Theatre seeks dance artists with strong modern dance technique, the desire to collaborate within the creative process, the flexibility to work in a variety of performance styles and venues, experience and interest in education and community environments, and the desire to engage authentically as part of an ensemble and as an expressive soloist.  

Attack Theatre seeks dancers who possess a ravenous curiosity for movement and the creative process. The work requires improvisation and working with props and objects in creative play and performance settings. Dancers will share their weight and support the weight of others in close physical contact. Company members are key participants in developing and sharing new forms of artistic inquiry and audience engagement.  

With a core belief that movement is an essential part of living and learning, Attack Theatre’s creative learning programs are rooted in reflection, investigation, and imagination. Company members must be comfortable teaching and engaging in school and diverse learning environments. Individual support and training in Attack Theatre teaching pedagogy will be provided.  

The company dancer work schedule is a daytime commitment Monday - Friday, however, occasional early morning, evening, and weekend commitments are a requirement of the position. Any candidate offered a position must be able to pass Act 151 (Child Abuse History), Act 34 (Criminal Record Check), and Act 114 (FBI Federal Criminal History). All artists applying must be either citizens of the US or have valid working visas. A valid driver's license is encouraged but not required for employment.   


General Management Internship

The General Management intern interacts with all departments, including marketing, finance, development, artistic, production, and creative learning. Duties include daily business functions, research/analysis, archival organization, board reports, artistic administration, and special projects aligned with the candidate's individual focus. This position reports to the Operations and Partnerships Manager and works closely with the Executive Director. The company’s studio/rehearsal space at 212 45th Street in Lawrenceville is designed to facilitate easy collaboration between the artistic and administrative staff. 

General Management Internships at Attack Theatre are ideal for individuals interested in the operations and administration of a dynamic performing arts organization. Due to the small, collaborative nature of the staff, this position provides a valuable learning experience not typically available in more compartmentalized internships. Interns will gain insight into the inner workings of a growing nonprofit arts organization that is rooted locally and engaged globally.
