Time for Two: Toddler Creative Movement

Age: Toddler | When: Tuesdays and Thursdays 10-10:45 AM | Instructor: Tricia Kohler

We welcome 2-3 year-olds and their special friends. Children will embark on an exciting adventure, discovering the joy of movement through creative play with music, props, and imagination. Plus, it's an excellent opportunity to forge new friendships along the way!

* A parent or guardian must be present and participate with their learner during all classes. 


Pre-K Little Caterpillar Creative Movement

Age: 3 - 6 years | When: Tuesdays and Thursdays 11-11:45 AM | Instructor: Tricia Kohler

Come join us at Little Caterpillar Creative Movement class, where your little one can explore movement and rhythm in a fun and welcoming environment! This specialized dance class is perfect for ages 3-5. Parents are welcome to stay and watch as their child takes their first steps in the dance world, or they can gradually transition them into an independent class setting. Our focus is on fostering early motor skills and a love for expression, to prepare young dancers for the next exciting step in our curriculum. We can't wait to dance with you! 

* Parents/Guardians must be present in the building for the duration of the class. Parents/Guardians are welcome to sit in the class or waiting area during scheduled class times. 


Little Butterflies Creative Movement

Age: 5 - 10 years | When: Mondays and Wednesdays 5-5:45 PM | Instructor: Tricia Kohler

Welcome to the Little Butterflies creative movement! It's an enchanting dance class designed for children ages 5-9. This introductory program allows young dancers to explore ballet, jazz, and/or tap, helping them discover their favorite style. With lively props, fun music, and a dance party finale, the classes create a vibrant and engaging atmosphere. Little Butterflies creative movement is a joyful space where children not only learn dance fundamentals but also find their passion in a dynamic and immersive setting. Join us for an exciting and uplifting experience!


Preteen/teen modern movement

Age: 10 - 16 years | When: Mondays and Wednesdays 6-6:45 PM | Instructor: Tricia Kohler

Our Preteen/Teen Modern Movement class is a beginner class and all levels are welcomed! Our Modern Movement class combines elements of contemporary, ballet, and jazz to improve strength, flexibility, and floor work. This training will help students become more skilled at learning, creating, and adapting to new choreography. With fun elements like storytelling, improvisation, and partnering, we aim to challenge, engage, and inspire our students to continue dancing with excitement!


Meet the Instructor

Tricia Kohler is a Pittsburgh based dance artist, yogi, and arts advocate. She received her BFA from Slippery Rock University SRU, her yoga instructor certification under Micheal Gannon, and currently works for Attack Theatre as the Creative Learning Engagement Manager. While Tricia’s studies at SRU were heavily based in Modern dance, Tricia also under the university performed and traveled with the Afro Colombian Dance Ensemble under Melissa Teodoro, and then post graduation furthered her studies of the indigenous dance under Luis Fernando in Cartagena, Colombia. Tricia has performed professionally as a project dancer for COURdance contemporary dance company and Attack Theatre. Tricia is currently a performing member of the Pittsburgh Samba Group. Tricia is passionate in bringing creative learning and culturally diverse dance studies to arts education programs in Pittsburgh. Tricia has lead arts education programming at Propel Charter Schools, Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Pa, Latino Community Centers, Homeless Shelters, and various Community Centers around the greater Pittsburgh area. Tricia believes that art allows individuals to feel seen and heard while express parts of themselves they otherwise may have felt too vulnerable to share. Art/Dance is not just for the highly trained it is for everyone; Tricia hopes to continue to share her passions for creative learning in all spaces.
